ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS Architect with strong expertise in Full Stack Development and AWS Cloud Architecture to join our Global Commercial Operations IS (GCOIS) team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying scalable, secure, and user-centric applications while enabling modern IAM practices.
The Specialist Architect will play a key role in front-end and back-end application development, database design, and cloud-native deployment. This individual will also ensure adherence to security best practices, API design standards, and Agile delivery methods. While prior experience with PingOne identity platforms is valuable, the primary focus is on building modern full-stack solutions and AWS-based architecture that support Amgen’s digital initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and management of full-stack applications with integrated IAM capabilities.
Design and deliver responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
Ensure cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization for web applications.
Build and optimize secure, scalable back-end services and APIs using Node.js, Express.js, or Python.
Design, manage, and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases for secure and efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
Develop and manage RESTful and GraphQL APIs to enable seamless communication across front-end, back-end, and microservices.
Implement security best practices including authentication, authorization, encryption, and protection against vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF, SQL injection).
Architect and deploy solutions on AWS (preferred) or other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), ensuring scalability, resiliency, and cost-effectiveness.
Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and operational consistency.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional IS teams to deliver on Customer 360 and transformation initiatives.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and Amgen security guidelines.
Document software architecture, design decisions, deployment processes, disaster recovery plans, and operational procedures.
Participate in Agile (SAFE) ceremonies, contributing to planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
Stay updated with emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices to drive innovation.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
GCF Level 5A
Master’s degree with 4 - 6 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field OR
Bachelor’s degree with 6 - 8 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field OR
Diploma with 10 - 12 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills (Not more than 3 to 4)
Hands-on experience with Full Stack software development: Python (preferred), JavaScript, React.js/Node.js/Express.js, SQL/NoSQL databases.
Hands-on experience architecting and deploying applications on AWS using well-architected principles.
Strong understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API design, microservices, and serverless architectures.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Good-to-Have Skills:
Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and automated testing.
Knowledge of application monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch).
Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
Experience with IAM platforms such as PingOne Identity Cloud - optional but beneficial.
Exposure to generative AI or modern automation technologies for innovative solution development.
Professional Certifications (please mention if the certification is preferred or mandatory for the role):
AWS Solutions Architect Associate (Preferred)

Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to explain complex identity concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Product Owners, InfoSec, and engineering teams in Agile environments.
Analytical approach to troubleshooting,demonstrated optimizing IAM solutionsand function in a team setting
Demonstrated awarenessby staying current with IAM trends, Ping Identity roadmap, and emerging security models including presentation skills
