ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Amgen India Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI) Scientific Business Analyst(BA) role will primarily focus onanalyzing scientific requirements from Global Research and translating them into efficient and effective information systems solutions. As a domain expert, the prospective BA collaborate with cross-functional teams to identifydata product enhancement opportunities, perform data analysis, troubleshoot issues, and support system implementation and maintenance. Additionally, it will involve development ofdata product launch and user adoption strategy of Amgen Research Foundational Data Systems.Your expertise in business process analysis and technology will contribute to the successful delivery of IT solutions that drive operational efficiency and meet business objectives.

This role requires expertise in biopharma scientific domains as well as informatics solution deliveryAdditionally, extensive collaboration withglobal teams is required to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the end-to-end software development lifecycle and be a Scaled Agile practitioner, coupled withchange management and transformation experience. This role demands the ability to deliver againstkey organizational strategic initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global research teams to support data and analytics needs across biologics discovery, protein engineering, and preclinical studies
  • Act as a Scientific Business Analyst within a SAFe team, providing biological domain expertise in assay data, molecular characterization, and cell-based studies
  • Partner with scientists to capture and translate requirements related to biologics design, screening assays, and in vitro/in vivo experiments into actionable user stories
  • Develop insightful dashboards and applications to enable analysis of experimental data, assay results, and biological performance metrics (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Dash, Streamlit, RShiny)
  • Support integration of data from ELN/LIMS and research systems, ensuring consistent and accessible biological datasets
  • Contribute to data harmonization and standardization across biologics workflows to enable cross-study analysis
  • Support data migration and integration to Benchling, ensuring high-quality, well-structured biological and experimental data
  • Identify risks related to data quality, experimental variability, and user adoption, and drive mitigation strategies
  • Create documentation, training, and communication materials to support scientists in adopting data and analytics solutions
  • Enable incorporation of biological data into AI/ML-driven research workflows

Basic Qualifications 

Master’s degree ORBachelor’s degree and 5 to 9 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Life Sciences, Computer Science, or Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience supporting scientific research data and analytics in a biopharma environment
  • Experience working with research data domains (e.g., omics, assay data, preclinical datasets)

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex scientific data and derive actionable insights for research and drug discovery
  • Proven ability to gather, structure, and translate business and scientific requirements into clear analytical and reporting solutions
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across scientific, technical, and business teams
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis, visualization, and dashboarding tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Dash, Streamlit, RShiny, Databricks)
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or R) for data analysis and exploratory workflows

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in a scientific domain area and related technology needs

  • Understanding of semantics and FAIR (Findability, Accessibility Interoperability and Reuse) data concepts

  • Experience with cloud (e.g. AWS) and on-premise compute infrastructure

  • Experience with scientific and technical team collaborations, ensuring seamless coordination across teams and driving the successful delivery of technical projects 

  • Experience creating impactful slide decks and communicating data

  • Ability to deliverfeatures meeting research user demands using Agile methodology

Professional Certifications

  • SAFe for Teams certification (preferred)

  • SAFe Scrum Master or similar (preferred)

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to drive change and user adoption of research data platforms and analytics solutions within scientific teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bridge communication between scientists, data teams, and IT
  • Proactive and self-driven, with the ability to independently manage analysis, requirements, and deliverables
  • Capability to prioritize and balance multiple initiatives aligned to research timelines and product delivery cycles
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional, global teams to deliver shared outcomes
  • Effective in presenting insights, facilitating discussions, and influencing decisions based on data and business needs
