ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

TheSAPSeniorDeveloper willbe responsible fordesigning, developing, and implementing end-to-endSAP solutions using modern frameworks and methodologies. In this role,you'llwork with the latest SAP technologies, including ABAP on SAP S/4HANA, Fiori/UI5, RAP (Restful ABAP Programming), CAP (Cloud Application Programming), and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). You will collaborate with functional teams to deliver customized, scalable SAP solutions,leveragingexpertisein ABAP Objects, CDS Views, AMDP, OData, and integration with both cloud andon-premisesystems.

A key requirement of this role is adherence to the "clean core" principle andutilizeSAP Extensibility concepts such as side-by-side extensions and leveraging BTP for custom development tomaintaina clean SAP corewherefeasible.This position requiresproficiencyin SAP DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, automatedtesting (ABAP Unit), and SAP ATC for quality control. Experience with Git, Jenkins, SAP Fiori Elements, SAP Gateway, and integration via SAP BTP is essential.You'llalso work on performance tuning with SAP HANA and develop AI-driven automation solutions using SAP AI Core and SAP AI Foundation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, andmaintainABAP programs, including custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEFW)withinSAPS/4Transportation Management (TM) environment.

• Leverage S/4HANA development experience to implement scalable solutions, including OData development using CDS and AMDP, and workflow configuration, support, and debugging.

• Adhere to the "clean core" principle by decoupling custom code from SAP’s digital core, using released APIs, in-app extensibility, and key user extensibility options to ensure smooth upgrades and maintenance.

• Apply SAP’s 3-Tier Extensibility model, working with RAP (Restful ABAP Programming) and CAP (Cloud Application Programming) models to build robust, scalable, cloud-based solutions using SAP BTP.

• Develop user-friendly interfaces using SAP Fiori/UI5 and enhance SAP applications using modern ABAP techniques, including CDS views, AMDP, Native SQL, ADBC, External Views, Text Search, and ALV on HANA.

• Collaborate with functional teams to gather requirements, create technical specifications, and implement SAP solutions aligned with business needs.

• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to SAP best practices, using SAP quality tools like SAP ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit) for code inspection, optimization, and vulnerability detection.

• Leverage SAP BTPBuild, SAPBusiness Application Studioand Jouletodesign, develop, extend,andoptimizebusiness processes.

• Implement SAP Fiori/UI5 applications and leverage SAP Build to enhance user experiences and improve application functionality.

• Expertisewith EM Development

• Expertiseon TM enhancements based on process controller strategies

• Creation of Service providers and consumers and handled web service calls from SAP TM 

• Design for SAP TM customer specific enhancements and develops autonomously

• Expertiseon change controller enhancements Creation.

• Expertiseon Debug and development of event handling requirements.

• Expertiseoncreationcustom BOs for new business process objects per customer needs.

• Expertiseon new UI applications based on custom Bos

• Expertiseon BOBF determinations and custom actions to handle complex business logic

• Creation of complex UI enhancements with hierarchies and custom tabs with compositeuibbs

• Extensive experience integrating SAP BN4L carrier integration 

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of ABAP Objects, ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse, CDS views, and OData services.

• Practical experience with RAP and CAPmodels,leveragingSAP BTP.

• Expertise inusing SAP ATC and other SAP quality and security tools for code inspection, optimization, and vulnerability detection.

• Proficiencyin designing and developing SAP Fiori applications using SAP UI5, OData services, CDS views, and AWS SDK integration.

• Requirement gathering, technical analysis, estimation, design, driving SAPS/4HANAimplementations,upgradesand migration projects.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Agile/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for SAP-specific development projects, ensuring efficient delivery of ABAP enhancements and customizations in an iterative, collaborative environment.

• Proficiencyin ABAP DevOps practices, including setting up CI/CD pipelines for ABAP code deployment, automated testing with ABAP Unit, and code quality checks using SAP ATC.

• Understanding ofSAP Clean Code principles, with hands-on experience in writing modular, maintainable ABAP code that follows best practices for readability, reusability, and minimal technical debt.

• Experience with SAP Workflow and Business Rules Framework, enabling custom workflow development and process automation within SAP environments using ABAP.

• Familiarity with ABAP Cloud Development, including side-by-side extensions using SAP BTP and knowledge of integrating ABAP with modern cloud platforms through APIs and OData services.

• Experience working on key supply chain modules such as SAP TM, SAP EWM, SAP ATTP, SAP ARIBA, SAPMMetc. 

Professional Certifications

• SAP Certified Development Specialist – ABAP for SAP HANA 2.0 (preferred)

• SAP Certified Development Specialist – SAP Fiori Application Development (preferred)

• SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA, ABAP Programming (preferred)

Basic Qualifications and Experience

Doctorate degree OR

Master’s degree in computer science or STEM majorsand 4 to 6 years ofIT or related fieldexperience OR

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM majorsand 6 to 8 years ofIT or related fieldexperienceOR

Diploma in computer science or STEM majorsand 10 to 12 yearsofIT or related fieldexperience

Soft Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively collaborating with functional teams, gathering business requirements, and documenting technical specifications and solutions in a clear and concise manner.

• High attention to detail in writing, debugging, andmaintainingABAP code, ensuring adherence to best practices, clean core principles, and compliance with SAP development standards.

• Ability to adapt to evolving SAP technologies and project requirements, staying up to date with the latest advancements like RAP, CAP, and SAP Fiori while meeting dynamic business needs in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues in complex SAP systems,identifyroot causes, and provide effective technical solutions that align with business processes.

• Collaborative mindset, working closely with cross-functional teams, SAP consultants, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of custom ABAP solutions that meet organizational goals.
