Manager, Field Reporting - Build & Development, OBU & RDBU
What you will do

In this vital role the Manager, Field Reporting Build & Development, OBU / RDBU will be responsible for the full lifecycle of report development – from identifying business needs through requirements elicitation, to designing and delivering robust, performant, fit-for purpose reporting solutions, to operations and support. This individual will oversee both front-end builds (dashboards, visualizations, reports, data user interfaces) and back-end builds (data models, pipelines, and integrations), ensuring scalable, reliable, and user-centric reporting. Furthermore, they will oversee operations and support of our reporting solutions – ensuring data is available, up-to-date, and accurate. As a key member of Amgen’s Field Data & Reporting team, this role ensures that reporting platforms deliver actionable insights that empower decision-making across our US field sales teams.
Responsibilities
Report Build & Development
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Tableau (primary) and other BI and data/reporting platforms
- Or, where applicable, lead the build and support of dashboards, reports, and visualizations in partnership with our Amgen Technology teams
- Design and/or develop data models, pipelines, and integrations to support scalable reporting solutions
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliverables
- Ensure reports are intuitive, accurate, and optimized for performance
- Practice a user-centered approach to design, ensuring report design and techniques are tailored to the workflows of our US field sales representatives
- Designs and builds for consistency at scale, leveraging reusable data models, reusable metrics, etc. across our data and reporting solutions
Business Needs & Fit-for-Purpose Reporting
- Work with stakeholders to uncover true business needs, challenging assumptions when necessary to ensure reports deliver meaningful insights
- Design fit-for-purpose solutions that align with user needs while adhering to enterprise data and reporting standards
- Actively solicit feedback to improve usability, adoption, and business impact of reporting solutions
Ops & Reliability
- Manage the operational aspects of reporting platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security
- Implement monitoring and maintenance processes to proactively address issues and address appropriately
- Support DevOps practices for continuous improvement, including version control, automated testing, and deployment
- Ensure data pipelines and reporting solutions are robust, resilient, and aligned with enterprise technology standards
Data Quality & Governance
- Conduct data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and trust in reports
- Partner with data governance teams to enforce consistent metric definitions and reporting standards
- Maintain documentation for design standards, report logic, rule and metric definitions, data models, and operational processes
- Continuously assesses usage and purpose, making sure that data and reports fit current business needs
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Explore and implement new BI features, visualization techniques, and automation opportunities
- Benchmark reporting practices against industry standards and propose improvements
- Act as a thought leader on how reporting and analytics can evolve to meet future business needs
Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on reporting solutions and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure end-to-end alignment from data ingestion to report delivery
- Support adoption of self-service reporting capabilities where appropriate

Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree & 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Data, and Reporting
- Bachelor’s degree & 10+ years of experience in Analytics, Data, and Reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical & BI Expertise
- Advanced experience in Tableau (preferred) or other mainstream BI platforms (Power BI, Qlik, etc.), with demonstrated ability to design and deliver scalable dashboards and reports
- Strong background in SQL and database management, with experience building data models, ETL pipelines, and integrations
- Familiarity with
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Databricks, AWS, etc.) and DevOps practices
- Understanding data visualization best practices, including usability, performance optimization, and storytelling with data
- Proven ability to design flexible, scalable data models and reports that can be easily adapted to future business needs with minimal rework
- Knowledge of modern BI design principles with a focus on speed and efficiency, ensuring reports are optimized to deliver critical insights within seconds, enabling seamless use in the fast-paced life of a field representative
- Business Partnership & Needs Analysis
- Proven ability to engage with business stakeholders to uncover true reporting needs versus stated requests
- Strong consulting mindset — able to recommend the right solutions, prioritize effectively, and balance short-term asks with long-term strategy
- Experience in designing reporting solutions that deliver measurable business value
- Ops & Governance
- Experience with DevOps practices such as version control, automated testing, deployment pipelines, and monitoring
- Track record of ensuring report reliability, uptime, and performance in production environments
- Knowledge of data governance and metric standardization, with the ability to enforce consistency across platforms
- Collaboration & Communication
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical solutions into clear, actionable insights for business users
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Strong influencing skills to drive adoption and alignment across diverse stakeholders
- Industry & Domain Knowledge
- Experience working with commercial data sets in Bio/Pharmaceutical industry preferred (e.g. sales, claims, CRM data, Patient Hub data, Filed Force Effectiveness metrics)
- Experience in working in the Oncology or Rare Disease Therapeutic Areas is ideal
- Familiarity with field sales reporting, commercial operations, and/or customer engagement models and analytics
- Leadership & Other Qualifications
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a proactive mindset
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
