Role Description
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will serve as Manager Clinical Supply Chain leading a team of Senior Associates supporting execution of Clinical Finish Drug Product planning and Non-Amgen Medicinal Product procurement that enable patient drug supply.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Development Supply Chain, you will provide people leadership and operational oversight across supply planning, order management, material destruction, and material setup and ERP management. In close collaboration with your globally located peers, you will ensure reliable, compliant, and right-first-time process execution while strengthening operational rigor, process discipline, and performance visibility. This includes oversight of staff execution performed during off hours when necessary for enabling global operations.
The role is accountable for translating established clinical supply chain strategies into consistent operational execution. You will oversee workload prioritization, performance management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the teams, ensuring alignment with the global clinical supply chain priorities, regulatory requirements, and financial objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop a team of 5 Senior Associates across Clinical Finish Drug Product planning and Non-Amgen Medicinal Product procurement.
Define clear priorities, performance expectations, coaching, goals, and career development.
Ensure effective staffing, resource management, and succession planning to maintain operational success.
Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and customer focus.
Drive adoption of new technologies and AI to increase team productivity and enhance performance.
Clinical Supply Chain Execution Oversight
Oversee production order conversion, stock transfer order initiation, and clinical planning cycle facilitation to ensure product supply plans are executed against appropriately, including infrequent rush execution during off-hours for global operations.
Ensure success in study close out activities including material destruction.
Oversee setup, procurement and inventory management for Non-Amgen Medicinal Products.
Coordinate issue triage, corrective actions, and workload prioritization with global peers.
Provide guidance on complex operational matters.
Ensure timely escalation and resolution of planning, procurement, and execution risk.
Performance & Process Management
Ensure procedures are current, compliant and inspection-ready.
Establish and maintain team KPIs related to service level, execution timelines, and right-first-time delivery.
Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement to address gaps and enhance team outcomes.
Represent the team during audits and inspections.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
Partner with Supply Chain Teams, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, External Vendors, and Finance.
Translate global and local site priorities into actionable plans for the team.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure team execution complies with all applicable GMP/GDP and Regulatory requirements and Amgen procedures.
Provide oversight for documentation accuracy.
Support deviation management, change controls, risk assessments and inspection readiness.
Functional Skills
Must-Have Skills:
Strong experience in supply chain planning, procurement, and material management
Demonstrated success in people leadership, driving accountability, results, and growth of a team
Experience in regulated environments, preferably in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
Hands-on knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems for material planning and management
Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English both in oral and written communication
Strong problem solving and analytical skills towards driving robust decision making
Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix environment
Initiator with analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence without authority
Ability to operate in a global and virtual environment
Results oriented and strong adherence to timelines
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously in a fluid environment with time pressures
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of supply chain, logistics, planning, or operations experience
OR
Master’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in regulated manufacturing or life sciences industry preferred.
- Experience managing people required.
