Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will serve as the technical authority and site owner for the DeltaV platform at Amgen’s North Carolina manufacturing site. You are accountable for the platform’s architecture, lifecycle strategy, compliance posture, reliability, and long-term sustainability in alignment with enterprise standards. This role enables plant engineering and operations to deliver compliant, reliable manufacturing through resilient and well-governed platform services.
This role is explicitly site-specific: you will not own plant equipment or enterprise-wide DeltaV governance, though you will coordinate and align with enterprise standards, service owners, and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Define, evolve, and document the North Carolina site DeltaV platform architecture (controllers, servers, HMI, virtualization, redundancy, and network topology) and develop a site-level roadmap aligned with enterprise direction.
- Serve as the site decision authority for DeltaV platform changes, lifecycle prioritization, and risk acceptance in coordination with enterprise stakeholders.
- Own and execute lifecycle operations strategy including provisioning, capacity planning, patching, upgrades, license management, and disaster recovery to ensure high availability manufacturing while minimizing production risk.
- Establish and maintain a robust platform CMDB and asset inventory to ensure configuration integrity and audit readiness.
- Govern and implement site-level DeltaV integrations with MES, OSI PI, Active Directory, and other enterprise systems.
- Define site service level objectives (SLOs) for the DeltaV platform; implement monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and incident response processes, and drive root-cause analysis and continuous reliability improvement.
- Own the site-level DeltaV validation approach, including development of platform validation artifacts (IQ/OQ/PQ) and audit support.
- Implement and enforce ICS security controls (network segmentation, secure remote access, privileged access management) in partnership with corporate cybersecurity and site network teams.
- Effectively manage relationships with technology service owners, business partners, enterprise service partners, and vendors.
