Business Resilience Manager

In this vital role, you will lead the Business Resiliency program for Amgen North Carolina (ANC). Business Resilience aims to identify, understand, and reduce the risks of business disruptions, to respond quickly and safely to any events that affect our staff or assets, and to restore and resume our critical business operations as soon as possible across all Amgen sites and functions.
The program consists of five disciplines that help the company prepare for and respond to various risks and disruptions: Risk Management, Emergency Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. It defines the requirements, framework, and governance, and provides resources and tools to support functions, locations, and regions. This position reports to the Director of Business Performance in Amgen North Carolina.
Program Management:
Establishing a governance structure for strategic planning and execution of all Business Resilience elements, including identification and assessment of risk, tracking of mitigation actions, maintenance of strategic plans, and monitoring of overall program health, in compliance with policy, standards, and procedures.
Developing overarching plans, checklists, trainings, exercises, and program health metrics.
Representing ANC at the Operations Business Resiliency Network.
Liaising with Global Security, Global Business Continuity (BC), Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability, Site Leadership, Critical Business Units, Integrated Service Providers (ISP), and other stakeholders. Coordinating with the Digital Technologies and Innovation team on Disaster Recovery.
Developing relationships with external partners and stakeholders at a local and state level such as emergency management agencies, utilities, and critical recovery service providers.
Providing training to team members to sustain bench strength in key response positions.
Facilitating tabletop and full-scale site exercises, and incorporating lessons learned.
Developing tools and reports for effective monitoring of Business Resiliency
Extending oversight of the program elements to our network of key suppliers and service providers.
Leading continuous improvement of the Business Resiliency program
Subject Matter Expertise in the following disciplines:
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks impacting ANC using Amgen’s operations risk management framework.
Own and manage ANC’s business risks portfolio and escalations to Operations Network level, as appropriate.
Facilitate Executive Management review of site risks and mitigations.
Develop business cases for risk-related projects.
Provide risk assessment and/or risk management support for capital projects.
Work with insurance provider on risk quantification and recommendations.
Crisis Management:
Lead Crisis Management at ANC by working closely with Site Leadership, key business functions, integrated service providers (ISP), and network support functions.
Develop and maintain site Crisis Management plans including actions, roles and responsibilities, communication protocols, and develop effective templates for event documentation.
Serve as facilitator of the site Incident Management Team (IMT) and in the event of an incident, integrate site, regional, and global support teams to ensure a coordinated response, recovery, and communications.
Plan and lead execution of integrated training exercises
Document Lessons Learned and lead after-action reviews with Site Leadership and appropriate stakeholders after training exercises and real event activations.
Business Continuity:
Facilitate the identification of potential business disruption scenarios working closely with our global and local business process owners, and key service providers.
Drive development of Business Continuity plans for all key functions, extending into key suppliers and service providers
Establish and maintain a Business Continuity program to ensure plans are in-place, up to date with current risks, and mitigation actions are appropriate for the timely recovery of physical structures, processes, and services.
Facilitate tabletop and full-scale site exercises, and incorporates lessons learned.

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Business Resilience or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management experience OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of Business Resilience or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Business Resilience or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management experience OR
Master’s degree and 2 years ofBusiness Resilience or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management experience OR
Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, and programs
Experience in Biotech, pharmaceutical or GXP industry. Knowledgeable about Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Warehouse, and Laboratory Operations.
Excellent leadership, coordination, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Experience in developing and successfully implementing cross-functional strategic initiatives.
Experience managing projects and programs.
Experience facilitating risk assessments, and with risk management frameworks, processes, and tools.
Experience delivering emergency, crisis, or risk management training.
Experience leading incident response and gathering intel.
Self-motivated, proactive, independent, and adaptable with ability to respond quickly to unplanned events.
Emergency, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, IS Disaster Recovery, or Project Management Certification.
Experience with Continuous Improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma).

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
