To support robust marketing strategies across distributor-led markets for the full Amgen portfolio, ensuring brand alignment with global positioning while enabling local adaptability. This role ensures impactful promotional campaigns, deep market understanding, and effective partnership with distributors to drive brand performance in South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Levant countries.
Key Responsibilities & Capability Requirements
1. Brand Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and implementation of localized distributor brand plans aligned with global strategies
- Develop, seek approval for, and communicate Distributor Brand Plans in full congruence with the International Brand Plan
- Identify, adapt, seek approval for, and communicate appropriate promotional activities (e.g., detail aids, message scripts, advertising, congress materials) that align with international branding and key messages
2. Distributor Market Engagement
- Serve as the marketing lead for distributor markets, acting as a strategic partner to drive strategic direction and execution quality
- Provide training and support to distributor teams, ensuring consistency of messaging and tactical delivery
- Track campaign deployment and performance metrics across all distributor regions.
- Ensure materials and activities are deployed in line with Amgen compliance standards
3. Market Insights & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct thorough market analyses, monitor customer trends, and identify growth opportunities
- Monitor competitor activities and develop appropriate counter-strategies in collaboration with commercial leads
4. Product Launch, Lifecycle & Financial Planning
- Drive the successful launch of new products in distributor markets, including local adaptation of launch plans and tools
- Coordinate with regulatory and supply chain to ensure launch readiness and ongoing product support
- Manage lifecycle marketing strategies including label changes and new indications
- Collaborate in financial planning, including national sales targets and long-range strategy (LRS) planning
- Identify business opportunities and develop business cases
5. Best Practice Sharing & Global Integration
- Continuously identify, assess, and adapt best marketing and commercial practices from other Amgen markets for relevance in distributor regions
- Facilitate cross-regional forums to share successful strategies and enable replication of impactful initiatives
- Elevate distributor marketing capabilities by leveraging lessons from other affiliates and global teams
- Partner and connect with International Product Managers to seek up-to-date information and obtain approvals for content shared with distributor partners
6. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all marketing activities are compliant with Amgen’s internal SOPs, local regulatory requirements, and industry codes of practice
- Guide distributor partners on proper use of promotional materials and manage the approval process for external-facing content
- Maintain documentation, audit readiness, and alignment with global compliance systems
7. Cross-functional and External Collaboration
- Partner with medical affairs, regulatory, legal, pricing and access, and commercial operations to align initiatives
- Ensure brand plans are integrated with medical strategy and access narratives
- Collaborate on submissions and marketing-related content for HTA, pricing, or reimbursement bodies where applicable
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including a minimum of 2-4 years in a marketing or product management role
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, marketing, or business
- Proven ability to develop and execute brand plans across diverse geographies
- Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Financial and budgeting skills and experience
- Proficient in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience managing brands in distributor or affiliate-led markets
- Oncology and/or Hematology therapeutic area experience within emerging markets
- Documented track record of product launches
- Documented success in gaining or maintaining market leadership position
- Demonstrated success in launching products and repositioning brands in complex environments
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
