Scientist-Multi-Specific Drug Discovery and Characterization (1 year Contract)
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join our Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) team in Burnaby to establish and discover novel multi-specific antibody molecules. The Amgen IPP team specializes in the emerging proximity-based drug discovery for various Oncology, Cardiometabolic, and Inflammation targets.
We seek to develop and apply targeted protein degradation approaches to control pathogenic membrane and secreted proteins using multi-specific antibody molecules. The successful candidate will join our highly enthusiastic team of scientists to design, characterize, optimize, and discover multi-specific large molecules. A competitive candidate will have a demonstrated track record of working and publishing high-quality science in a related field and have deep expertise in technical skills. - Routinely conduct experiments using cultured mammalian cells and use appropriate assays to characterize and optimize multi-specific degrader antibody molecules.
- Perform quantitative assays for target and antibody internalization, degradation and localization using flow cytometry, imaging and other applicable techniques.
- Use multimode plate readers, fluorescence microscopes, flow cytometers.
- Manage research projects as needed, keep electronic records of experimental details, and present findings to cross-functional teams.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree & 2 years of directly related research experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of directly related research experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad knowledge and understanding of cellular and molecular biology, familiarity with endo/lysosomal protein sorting and trafficking.
- Previous experience with in vitro testing and characterization of antibody molecules or cellular mechanism of action studies.
- Significant experience with quantitative cell-based assays and techniques including Flow cytometry, Microscopy and Western Blotting.
- Experience with generation of transgenic cell lines is a bonus.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Eager to work in teams and seek collaboration as required by the project to achieve project goals on time.

The base salary range for this position in Canada is $110,717 - $140,299 CAD
