Associate Scientist - Predictive Biology (14 Month Contract)

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Predictive Biology Team at our Amgen British Columbia site to support the discovery of novel therapeutics to treat human disease. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to join our team in a laboratory-based role. As a key member of this team, you will:

  • Isolate, enrich, and culture primary immune cells from human and rodent tissues, as well as support processing and culture of additional primary human tissues used in discovery research.
  • Develop, optimize, and execute cell-based assays, including immune cell stimulation, expansion, and related functional workflows, with attention to reproducibility and experimental rigor.
  • Perform in-depth cellular characterization using multi-color flow cytometry, imaging-based assays, and related analytical techniques to assess cell identity, state, and functional responses across diverse cell systems.
  • Contribute to the refinement and execution of established protocols across immune cell, stem cell–derived, and organoid workflows, helping to improve consistency, performance, and scalability.
  • Work closely with cross-functional collaborators to communicate experimental results, troubleshoot challenges, and support downstream applications of generated data and biological materials.

Well-suited applicant will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment. This individual will also have a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree
  • Experience with induced pluripotent stem cell culture, including routine maintenance and execution of established differentiation protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline, with 2+ years of scientific laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aseptic cell culture techniques, including isolation and culture of primary immune cells
  • Experience working with primary human and rodent tissues, including tissue processing and downstream culture or analytical workflows.
  • Strong foundational understanding of immunology and cellular biology.
  • Hands-on experience performing immunology assays such as ELISA, ELISpot, and multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Experience working with 3D organoid models, including routine culture and basic characterization preferred.
  • Experience with imaging-based characterization methods, including confocal microscopy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated scientific analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this position in Canada is $93,673 - $115,987 .
