Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a Global Medical Director in the Global Oncology Medical organization and have a direct impact on oncology programs at various stages of the product lifecycle.

China is the 2nd largest economy and the 2nd largest pharmaceutical market, and soon will be the largest of both. Amgen entered into a clinical development and commercial collaboration with BeOne Medicines (previously BeiGene) in 2019 to increase our presence in China and to grow our understanding of the market due to its significance to our oncology portfolio. This role will also provide medical leadership with the Product Teams for three in-line oncology brands and will help to prepare the China marketfor oncology launches with BeOne. 

The Amgen BeOne Collaboration (ABC) Global Medical Director, will help to further expand Amgen’s oncology presence in China by stewarding Amgen oncology assets in China with collaboration partner BeOne

The ABC Medical Lead is responsible for the day-to-day medical operations and managing of medical activities of the Amgen BeOne Collaboration.  You will also provide medical guidance to Product Teams on the China process for Amgen oncology assets included in the Collaboration.

This role will report to the VP of Oncology Global Medical and presents a breadth of challenging and exciting responsibilities, as set forth below.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a member of the Oncology Global Medical Affairs Team and key contributor to Product Teams to inform medical activities in collaboration with BeOne 

  • Build and maintain internal and external cross-functional relationships to develop collaboration initiatives aligned with Amgen's strategy

  • Provide medical strategic input on treatment landscapes to support registrational programs and product lifecycle management.

  • Embed medical learnings from recent brand launches to enable future Amgen pipeline programs in China. Share key learnings and QBRs with Oncology TAG at a quarterly frequency

  • Drive operational efficiencies in ABC medical operations (Medical plans, budgets, and forecasts) to promote a collaborative approach and ensure relevant resource and expertise allocation

  • Partner with Amgen Alliance Management on key initiatives that advance Amgen BeOne Collaboration (ABC) priorities and strengthen the culture

  • Support or lead the development of medical presentations for ABC governance meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school or PhD/PharmD AND

  • 5 or more years of medical affairs experiences and/or clinical research experience and/orbasic science research in Oncology or related medical discipline AND

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD plus accredited fellowship in Oncology or related medical discipline, board certified orboard eligible

  • PhD/PharmD will be considered based on individuals’ profile

  • 10 + years Medical Affairs experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech,

  • pharmaceutical or CRO)

  • Experience with pipeline assets, launches or supporting mature brands

  • Regional experience, overseeing affiliates within a given therapeutic area (TA)

  • Clinical and disease knowledge base in Oncology diseases, including Hematology, Thoracic, Gastrointestinal (GI)/Gastro-urology(GU), and Solid Tumors

  •  Experience with stakeholder engagement and interactions (e.g., OLs, advocacy groups,payers)

  • Alliance Management experience

  •  Familiarity with global and local regulatory organizations, guidelines, and practices

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and global regulations and guidelines

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization processes, including but not limited to, clinical operations, commercial, regulatory, and medical affairs

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting sound scientific/medical judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues

  • In-depth understanding of scientific method and clinical applications based on medical,scientific, and practical rationale

  •  Track record of success working with matrixed cross-functional teams

  • Fluency in Chinese (spoken and written)
