Amgen is seeking a Sr. Associate, Business Analyst at its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, Ca. to join the Corporate Engineering function. This individual will report the Sr. Manager, Strategic Planning and Operations. This role will work with the Engineering departments to track and analyze key business data and manage business analysis projects. This will include the development and managing real-time visual management tools. The Sr. Associate is responsible to stay informed of Industry best practices, technology, tools and trends. This role will also work with and support cross functional transformation initiatives to improve corporate Engineering’s capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Budget development, management and PO/invoice resolutions
  • Maintain internal work allocation tracking program, including data analysis and impacts to resource models and planning assumptions
  • Support maintenance of the Engineering workforce data
  • Support maintaining project and initiative portfolio and resource allocation
  • Provide regular reports and presentations that clearly summarize analytical results and implications/recommendations to key stakeholders to inform decision making
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute mitigation plans, when needed, to reach department goals and critical milestones
  • Develop and/or support and execute business cases and technical solutions to a wide range of business opportunities to address and eliminate issues in the department

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of engineering, operations, finance related experience OR
  • Associates Degree and 6 years of engineering, operations, finance related experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of engineering, operations, finance related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Experience in business analytics
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology industries
  • Project management experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment
  • Experience with visual management tools such as Spotfire or Tableau
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Capable of financial analysis and developing technical solutions to a wide range of business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities with minimal direction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to tactfully negotiate and positively influence peers and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to combine technical problem-solving skills with business acumen to determine best business solution
  • Effective in action-oriented scoping and execution including the support of translating strategy into actionable objectives with measurable targets
